Frame Cutting: One of the bike details we all agreed on was the fact that we wanted to lower the whole bike and in addition to a lower stance, we also wanted the rider to have a lower seating position as well. From day one we had planned on using rearsets and clipon bars, so it was easy to visualize the new rider position. A bike widely found on the Internet has a similar look as what we were after -the Erbacher bike shown below.

So the first modification done to the Honda frame was the cutting of the upper frame tubes where the rider sits. One of the issues that had to be addressed with lowering the frame in this area was the battery box and most of the bikes main wiring components.

Moving the battery box and wiring forward was easy enough, but then it was also being moved downward since the lowered frame tubes also included the battery box mounts.

The amount the tubes could be lowered in the chassis was decided by the amount of upwards travel we wanted to keep in the swingarm.

We were able to lower the frame tubes quite a bit' (approx. 3"), before the swingarm travel became an issue, since moving the battery box forward in the chassis also gained us slightly more clearance with the swingarm at maximum travel.

Fork Swapping: We hadn't intended to swap out the front forks on this build, but when the killer EBay deal came up on an 05' Dyna complete front end for $500, plan modification was in order!
